Prop Firm Software Procurement FAQ

How much does prop firm software cost?

Our current public dataset spans low hundreds per month through multi-thousand-dollar enterprise tiers, plus setup, usage, credits and percentage models. Compare current public pricing rather than relying on one market average.

What should I compare first?

Start with mandatory trading platforms, challenge/risk rules, business stage, volume and budget. A vendor that fails a knockout requirement should not advance because it has more optional features.

How many vendors should I shortlist?

Usually a small number of genuinely viable alternatives. Three evidence-backed candidates can produce better diligence than ten generic demos.

Should I choose a no-revenue-share vendor?

It can improve upside retention and cost predictability, but compare fixed, usage and third-party costs at your expected scale. See our zero-share research.

Can I launch for under $1,000/month?

Several researched providers publish entry points around or below that range. Total cost can be higher after trading infrastructure, KYC, payments and other dependencies.

How quickly can software launch?

Provider-published claims in our current dataset range from a few days to around two weeks for standard implementations. Treat these as claims with prerequisites and acceptance requirements, not guaranteed business launch dates.

Should I demand a free trial?

Not necessarily. Some enterprise products are demo/pilot-led. The objective is sufficient evidence against critical requirements, whether obtained through trial, sandbox, POC or configured demo.

What is the biggest migration risk?

Preserving authoritative account/lifecycle/payout state while the live firm continues operating. Customer CSV import is usually not the hardest part.

Can migration really be free?

Some vendors publicly offer no-cost migration. Contract overlap, internal work and source-data remediation can still create switching cost.

What should an SLA include?

Measured services, availability target, exclusions, maintenance, incident severity, response/escalation, remedies and treatment of third-party dependencies.

Who owns my data?

Read the actual contract. Separate customer/trader records from platform source code, configuration and custom development, and test export before commitment.

Do I need an API?

Not for every firm. API/webhooks become more important when you have proprietary workflows, external systems or want to reduce closed-platform dependency.

What should I make the vendor demonstrate?

Run the complete lifecycle: purchase, provisioning, trading/risk, phase transition, KYC, funded state, payout and export, plus at least one failure/recovery scenario.

How do I compare quotes?

Normalize setup, monthly, usage, percentage, platforms, KYC, payments, API, support and migration at the same volume. Mark unknown as unknown, not zero.

Should price be the main selection criterion?

For a small startup it may carry high weight. For a live or scaled firm, reliability, migration, data and support can outweigh a modest licence difference.
